Eric Cano, owner of an Atlanta house cleaning service, offered advice about green cleaning in an interview Tuesday.
(ATLANTA, GA) Eric Cano, owner of EMJ Cleaning, an Atlanta house cleaning service, was interviewed Tuesday about environmentally friendlier cleaning techniques. In his interview, Cano offers advice about cleaning products for dishes, laundry and general home cleaning. Cano offers tips like reading labels and even making cleaners at home.
The most important thing when keeping the environment in mind while shopping for cleaning products is reading labels, says Cano. “Do your research and find out what the ingredients of your cleaners are,” he says. “Some products have really harsh chemicals in them that can irritate your skin and have detrimental effects on the environment. I would suggest reading up on products you currently use and maybe switching to one of the many natural brands of clothing detergent, dishwashing soap and other cleaners.”
Cano says that when natural products are not available, making mild cleansers at home is an option. “Many times, there is a simple mixture you can make in a pinch if a product is not available. For instance, a paste made of baking soda and water is great at removing stains from dishes and counter tops, and is natural and cheap.”
Vinegar is a useful all-around cleansing agent, according to Cano. “A simple solution of white vinegar and water can be used as a mild cleaner for a variety of projects,” he says. “This is great for wiping down counters and appliances, and you could even mix in some baking powder for tougher jobs, like bathroom tile.”
